People dislike getting “cold called” or “cold emailed.”
Yes and puppies are awesome and ice cream tastes great...right? Not exactly splitting the atom with that insight.
What I've come to believe is that even when cold outreach works – and it CAN – it's disruptive and as a salesperson you always run the chance of turning a prospect off before they listen to your value proposition.
It's already hard to get people to answer the phone, call you back or respond to an email. Anyone who says it isn't is probably trying to sell you a "super secret way that works 100% of the time!"
We've all heard that before...right?
And it's only getting worse - as the next generation, the digital natives, move from the cubicles to the corner offices, reaching out to them as BUYERS will be fundamentally different than the way we in sales reached out to their parents and grandparents.
